A 31-year-old man is set to appear in the Jeppe Magistrate’s Court soon after being arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The arrest followed a tip-off received by police about a suspect allegedly in possession of illegal firearms. Acting on the information, law enforcement operationalized the intelligence on 20 May 2025.

Authorities intercepted the suspect while he was driving along a street in Jeppe. A subsequent search of the suspect and his vehicle led to the discovery of two unlicensed firearms—one found on his person and another concealed under the driver’s seat. Both weapons had their serial numbers filed off.

In addition to the firearms, police recovered 22 live rounds of ammunition. The suspect remains in custody pending his court appearance.

Further investigations may be underway as authorities work to determine the origin and intended use of the illegal weapons.
