On Saturday morning, IPSS Medical Rescue & IPSS Security responded to reports of a CIT in progress, on the link road between the N2 and Mandeni.
The CIT vehicle was approached by armed gunmen, with the resulting gun fire leaving one Security Officer with multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the best efforts of IPSS Medical Rescue Paramedics, the Security Officer sadly succumbed to his injuries.
It is believed the gunman fled empty handed, after their explosives failed to detonate.
The link road was closed for several hours to allow for further investigation.
