The community of Soweto is mourning the loss of Mojalefa Savhuli, a bright and joyful child described by his family as smart, active, and full of love. His relatives shared fond memories of him, calling him a “jolly kid” who brought happiness to their home.

“We’ll honor his memory and keep it intact,” a family member said. “He was still young and had a long life ahead.”

Mojalefa’s preschool teacher also paid tribute, calling him a “special child” who stood out because of his unique qualities.

The tragedy comes as religious leaders in Soweto raise alarm over escalating murders in the area. A local pastor expressed grief over the recent killing of 22-year-old Sinenhlanhla Mathonsi, allegedly murdered by her ex-boyfriend in Protea Glen.

“This is heartbreaking for us as a church, a nation, and as Soweto residents,” the pastor said. Mathonsi’s family awaits postmortem results to confirm the cause of death.

As the community grapples with these losses, calls for action against rising violence grow louder.
