The three men accused of killing 5-year-old Ditebogo Phalane during a hijacking in Soshanguve last year are expected to appear in the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court today.
The tragic incident, which occurred in May 2023, sent shockwaves across the country after the young boy was caught in the crossfire during the violent carjacking. The stolen vehicle was later reportedly sold for R30,000.
The suspects last appeared in court on April 9, where the case was adjourned for further investigations. Today’s proceedings may include a bail application, though details remain unclear.
It is still uncertain whether all three accused will appear or if the media will be permitted inside the courtroom. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is expected to provide further updates as the case unfolds.
