The evacuation of residents affected by heavy rains in Umlazi’s H Section continues, with over a hundred people moved to a temporary shelter in Amanzimtoti.
The flooding, which struck during the Easter long weekend, destroyed homes and left more than 50 houses collapsed. At least six people were injured in the disaster.
Local authorities are providing aid to displaced families while assessing further damage. Emergency teams remain on high alert as more rainfall is predicted in the coming days.
Efforts to secure long-term housing solutions for the victims are underway.
