Bikers unite to make a difference: 230 pairs of school shoes donated to learners

On Saturday, 12 April 2025, in a heart-warming display by HD Muscle Pull Bikers, generously donated 230 pairs of school shoes to disadvantaged learners at Kingsway Intermediate School in Benoni.

HD Muscle Pull is a group of bikers comprising largely of professionals who have a passion for riding motorcycles and pulling their financial muscles together, fundraising and making a difference to indigent learners.

The donation form part of their back to school campaign. They support underprivileged children in their pursuit of education by providing them with essential footwear.

The event was attended by school officials, School Governing Body, parents, Benoni Station Commander Brigadier Khumbulani Mbatha, Ekurhuleni District Visible Policing Coordinators, Benoni SAPS Social Crime Prevention, Men for Change, Ward Councillor and enthusiastic leaners all coming together to the joy of giving.

The Principal, Mr Mashiyi, expressed gratitude for the bikers’ generosity, “We are incredibly thankful for this donation. These shoes will not only keep our leaners comfortable and safe but also instil a sense of pride in their education”.

Nokuthula Samente, a Grade 7 leaner thanked the bikers for their generosity and for showing their true spirit of giving. She further thanked the police for taking their time to form part of this event.

Ekurhuleni Deputy District Commissioner Brigadier Lebohang Machakela who is also the member of HD Muscle Pull Bikers said: We believe in the power of community and know that education plays a vital role in shaping a brighter future for our children. We hope that this small contribution can make a big difference in the lives of those young leaners and encourage them to pursue their studies with confidence.

The handing over of the shoes was done by Brigadier Lebohang Machakela together with the bikers. The event concluded with a parade of motorcycles signifying the unity and camaraderie of bikers and the school
