Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) despatched several Officers to a home in Dawncrest – KZN after receiving reports of a woman been attacked this morning (Wednesday 09:16).
Upon arrival a man was seeing fleeing over a wall at the rear of a building. When interviewed, the woman informed Reaction Officers that the perpetrator was an ex-boyfriend & the father of her two (2) children. She further explained that he had repeatedly attacked her over a twenty-three month (23) period, assaulting, abusing, robbing & damaging her property. She is in possession of a Protection Order & the man was arrested on several occasions & had been previously remanded to Westville Prison in KZN.
On Monday April 07, 2025 the woman was attacked and the ex-boyfriend attempted to strangle her demanding cash for drugs. She removed R85 in cash from her pockets & handed it to the man who then released the grip on her neck. The victim added that she has to pay approx. R300 daily to avoid being assaulted in the presence of her disabled child. She pointed out several locks & chains (picture 2/4) used to secure the house to keep the man out. The ex-boyfriend broke the door off the hinges in a recent attack.
Reaction Officer & Police Officers from SAPS Verulam searched the area for the 49 year old ex-boyfriend.
He could not be located.
