The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo has noted with concern the communique trending on social media platforms with SAPS Logo misleading the residents.
Underneath the SAPS logo is written as follows:
“News of Limpopo : Specail public announcement for festive season:
Do not go to party without money for drinks.
If you drink someone, you must expect that someone to want something in return.
And when he starts to demand that something.
Please do not call us.
Give him what he wants.
The SAPS will be busy with important cases.”
We condemn this act of misleading residents and we will hand this matter to Cyber Crime Unit who will ensure that these faceless people are traced to face the full might of the law.
As the SAPS we will never encourage patrons to demand something after the person has drink his liquor.
And that when a crime has been committed we must not be informed and that the SAPS will be busy with important cases.
Residents must use their own money when they visit liquor outlets.
When crime is committed the SAPS must be contacted through Crime Stop number 08600 10111, MySAPS App and local Police Station so that we can respond to any criminal act by registering a case and then handed it to the Detective Services to conduct a thorough investigation.
There will be more boots on the ground to ensure that residents as well as their properties are and feel safe during this Festive Season.
We are appealing to anyone who might know these suspects putting false information and using SAPS Logo to report them to Police emergency numbers mentioned above.
“I would like to thank all residents who are patriotic and brave to report criminal acts happening throughout the Province of Limpopo. Suspects who commit serious crimes are arrested and sentenced heavily in the courts. Thanks for turning to be a reporting nation” says Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
