Two friends were killed and one injured in a shooting incident that occurred in Amoutana – KZN.
Five friends were walking on the main road between Trenance Park & Amaoti – KZN when a champagne Toyota Etios (registration unknown) drove up to them. The occupants of the vehicle opened fire on the group. A 23-year-old was shot multiple times and collapsed at the scene.
His friends fled on foot, but were pursued by two gunmen. The suspects caught up to a 22-year-old and shot him near his home. A third victim was shot once on his hand. Two (2) other males escaped injury. The gunmen thereafter fled in their getaway vehicle in an unknown direction.
Residents contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA. Reaction Officers & RUSA Paramedics were immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene of the first shooting. The victim’s body was located on the road. He was shot nine times.
While attending to the scene, residents informed Reaction Officers that the body of a second male was in a yard approximately 100 meters away. First Responders proceeded to his location and found that he had also been shot nine times. Both men were declared deceased by Paramedics. The third male was expedited privately to a medical facility. Several spent 9mm cartridges were recovered at both scenes.
The surviving friends informed Reaction Officers that the suspects and motive for the attack were unknown to them.
