The Durban Metro Police Service is proud to highlight the dedicated work of our Search and Rescue Unit, which plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.

Just two days ago, our team was engaged in a serious incident at Inanda Dam, following a report that a person had been missing since 03 August 2024.

The individual was believed to be a victim of hijacking and was allegedly tied to a rock and thrown into the dam at a specific location.

Since receiving the call, our search team, along with the SAPS K9 Search and Rescue Unit and Hillcrest SAPS, has been actively searching the waters and surrounding area for the missing person.

The collaboration and tireless efforts of all involved have demonstrated exceptional commitment to bringing closure to this tragic case.

We are incredibly proud of our team and their dedication to protecting and serving our community, even in the most challenging circumstances.
