A security guard in Edendale in Pietermaritzburg had to be stabilized after being shot and robbed of his firearm this afternoon.
ER24 paramedics were called to a shopping mall in the area after the man was shot and wounded by a single bullet above his clavicle on the left side of his chest.
The man, who is believed to be in his 30’s, first had to receive advance life support before he was transported to Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg.
It is believed that the robbers fled the scene with only his gun, before ER24 paramedics arrived.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
