On Friday, 25 November 2016, two men, both aged 24, were arrested at Napsestad near Stilfontein for the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

The suspects were nabbed after a team comprising of the K9 Unit, Visible Policing, Crime Intelligence, Tactical Response Team, Public Order Police and mine security officials responded to a tip-off that the suspects were seen in possession of firearms.

When the team arrival at Napsestad, five men were spotted from a police helicopter running away from a farm. The men were stopped and searched and two of them were found in possession of unlicensed firearms. Of the two men, one was also found in possession of six rounds of ammunition. The suspects were then arrested and are expected to appear in the Stilfontein Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 28 November 2016.
