On Saturday afternoon, a father of Edendale, outside Pietermaritzburg found his 15-year-old daughter’s body in the family garage.
Werner Vermaak a spokesperson for ER24 said paramedics were called around 14:30 to the home. Family members were waiting outside the house for the paramedics and upon their arrival were taken to the garage where the young girl’s body lay.
“The girl had a bullet wound to her stomach and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, there was nothing we could do for her and she was pronounced dead at the scene,” said Vermaak. A firearm was lying next to the girl.
According to Vermaak, the police were notified and arrived at the scene and an investigation into the cause of death will continue.
