Investigation on a recent cash in transit robbery in Ventersburg has led to arrest of Motsamai Mokotedi (41), the driver of a cash and his crew, Kuwapi Koloti (36).

The alleged robbery occurred last Friday afternoon at Ventersburg, when a cash van was robbed of undisclosed amount of money. The driver and the crew were reportedly accosted by six armed suspects and robbed of their firearms as well as bags containing cash before suspects fled the scene in a red double cab bakkie.

No shots were fired and the alleged victims sustained no injuries during the ordeal. Preliminary investigation connected both Mokotedi and Koloti to the crime. The duo were subsequently arrested. Two firearms and twelve rounds of ammunition as well as R4 700-00 cash were recovered.

They have appeared before Ventersburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges relating to armed robbery. They were remanded in custody and their case was postponed to 24 August 2016 for bail application.
