Khayelitsha cluster police have apprehended more than 450 suspects in the period from Monday 2016-07-25 until Sunday 2016-07-31.
This was as a result of various operations conducted in different police stations in the cluster. The arrests ranged from murder, rape, house robbery, possession of stolen motor vehicle, robbery aggravated, assault GBH, driving under influence of alcohol and housebreaking and theft.
On Saturday evening 2016-07-30 at approximately 20:00 Harare SAPS members arrested a suspect at 60 block, Kuyasa after he allegedly shot a 21 year victim after an argument. The victim was shot once in the head and died on the scene. Police reacted quickly and apprehended the suspect. The murder weapon, a Norinco pistol and eight rounds were also confiscated. A 32 year old suspect was arrested and charged for murder and is expected to make a court appearance on Monday 2016-08-01 in Khayelitsha Magistrate Court.
This morning 2016-07-31 at approximately 01:45 Khayelitsha police members confiscated a large amount of dagga (cannabis) from BT Section in Site C Khayelitsha. After receiving information they carefully observed the address. As they approached, they found three bags of compressed dagga as well as parcels stored in one the shacks. Unfortunately there was no one who could account for the dagga as the shack looked like a storage place for the dagga. Police do value the information supplied by the members of the community and further encourage them to continue supporting the SAPS in the fight against crime and drug abuse.
