Two boys, aged 11 and 12, sustained multiple injuries when they were hit and possibly dragged by a vehicle on Circle Drive in Wyebank in Pinetown, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said on Saturday.

Paramedics arrived on the scene at about 1pm, where they found the two boys seated in a nearby minibus taxi, ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said.

It was understood that they were riding their bicycles when they fell and a car hit them. One of the boys sustained several burns and abrasions. The other sustained a severe laceration to his head and a possible fractured arm.

It was believed that a taxi driver arrived on the scene shortly after the incident and assisted the two boys into his taxi and called emergency services. Paramedics treated both the boys and transported them to RK Khan Hospital for further treatment.

“The driver of the vehicle was in shock about what had happened,” Vermaak said.
