Family hijacked in Isipingo Hills

Alpha Alarms

Three armed suspects, two masked with balaclavas stormed a premises on Spathodia Drive in Isipingo Hills at around 2pm on Saturday and fled with a 2016 BMW 3 series, three Samsung cellphones, house keys, remotes, wallets and other valuables.

Alpha Alarms Tactical Unit responded to the scene within minutes after a resident activated the panic button following the armed hijacking. SAPS also responded to the scene and in a joint operation between police and the Alpha Tactical Unit, a search for the vehicle was conducted but to no avail. The vehicle unfortunately did not have a tracking unit.

It is believed that the incident unfolded when the homeowner called his nephew to transport him to hospital as he had been feeling ill.

Both the nephew and uncle were in the vehicle and had opened the remote controlled gates in preparation to leave when the armed hijackers struck.

As the home-owner’s wife stepped into the vehicle, she noticed three males, two masked, all wielding guns, rushing into the yard.

The three suspects pointed guns at the three occupants and demanded for their valuables. Snatching the vehicle keys, the suspects pulled the occupants out of the vehicle and sped off. The three individuals were visibly shaken following the traumatic ordeal.

Alpha Alarms urges residents to be alert when entering and leaving your premises.

If possible, have someone look out for you. Take note of suspicious persons or vehicles lurking in the area and report them immediately to your security service provider or the police.

Do not enter your property if you spot suspicious individuals nearby. Drive to the nearest police station or contact your security service provider immediately.

Take careful note of description of suspicious persons in the area. Clothing, physical stature, identifying features etc helps when searching for suspects of crimes committed in the area.
