In yet another shocking robbery, a mother and her children were tied up with cable ties by suspects. The incident occurred in Umhlanga around 9 a.m. this morning.
The perpetrators had a hammer and a panga and threatened the family. Incidentally one of the suspects was the family gardener.
The two suspects stole cell phones, laptops, an iPad and jewelry.
While leaving the crime scene, the family gardener shouted that he would be back to get the TV.
It is indeed shocking that employees are resorting to crime and steal from the people who pay for work to be done. It would be wise to keep copies of identity documents of employees and run a police clearance on people before hiring.
Fortunately, nobody was hurt during the robbery, however, it is a traumatic experience for the family.
