Nyanga Cluster Police engaged in their duties as usual and as a result, more than 300 people were arrested for various commissions of crime on different operations in the past week.
The police operations occurred in Nyanga, Gugulethu, Bishop Levis, Manenberg, Philippi-East and Elsie’s River in the Western Cape.
Drugs and dagga (cannabis): About 124 premises were searched in the past week and body search as resulted: 152 arrests, 5578g of dagga , 114.5g of tik (crystal meth) and 40.25 mandrax, four cocaine and 47 heroin were confiscated .
Firearms recovered: Three firearms recovered in Nyanga policing precinct two 9mm pistol both with no serial numbers and one 38 Special with 38 live ammunition.
Recovered stolen vehicles: There were seven vehicles recovered, four in Philippi-East and three in Nyanga with no arrest.
Crime against Women and children: 80 crimes reported from various station with 26 arrests executed.
Shebeens Operation and Spaza Shops: 42 operations were executed on illegal liquor outlets and 10 people were arrested and 301.29 litres were confiscated. About 1 178 spaza shops were visited with three arrests.
Tracing Operations: About 12 tracing operations were conducted and 37 wanted persons were arrested.
