A 22-year-old woman from Phuthaditjhaba was allegedly raped by her ex-boyfriend on Tuesday, 31 May 2022.
According to reports, at about 19:00 on the mentioned date, the woman’s ex-boyfriend entered her room, which she is renting at a residential premises.
The suspect raped the woman and threatened her with a knife.
Upon hearing the woman’s screams, other tenants and the landlord gained entry into her room and immediately called the police. He was handed over to Crime Prevention Unit members by community members and the knife in his possession was confiscated.
A case of rape and that of possession of dangerous weapon is under investigation.
The suspect is expected to appear before Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate court soon.
