The Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has applauded the members for the arrest of a mine employee.
Today a 51-year-old mine employee was arrested for possession of stolen property and theft.
The arrested suspect, who is an employee of Seriti Mine, was arrested by a team of Standerton Detectives and Mine Investigators for possession of stolen property worth R100, 000.00.
According to the information, a Seriti mine Manager noticed that property, belonging to the mine and which were kept in a store room and in offices, kept on disappearing.
He instituted an internal investigation and reported the matter to the Police. A team of Standerton Detectives followed up the matter and on Monday, 24 January 2022, members executed a search warrant at the house of the identified suspect.
Various items, reportedly stolen from the mine, were recovered.
The suspect will appear in court on 25 January 2022.
