A 44-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court on Monday 3 January 2022, following her arrest by the Hawks members from Durban Serious Commercial Crime Investigation on Thursday, 30 December 2021.
It is alleged that in 2018, she submitted a fraudulent Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) claim to the Department of Labour, when she was working for Richards Bay Minerals (RBM) and the department paid her an amount of R13 940-56.
A case of fraud was reported at Richards Bay police station and the case docket was allocated to Hawks members from Durban Serious Commercial Crime Investigation for further investigation.
As a result she was arrested and charged for fraud.
