Mother and daughter attacked on farm

A mother and daughter from Alldays are lucky to be alive after being bombarded with stones on a farm in the Thabazimbi area.

Farm Owner, Walter Slippers, said the restaurant manager on the farm, Susan Longford and her daughter, stopped on their way to the farm gate to remove a rock in the road after closing the restaurant on Saturday, September 19, 2015.

“Longford’s daughter tried to climb out, but realized that their vehicle was too close to the wall at the farm gate. When Longford tried to reverse so that her daughter could get out of the vehicle, two attackers jumped from behind the wall and began throwing stones at them,” said Slippers.
Longford said all that came to her mind was to get away. “On the way back to the restaurant my daughter called Slippers on the radio. We suspected there were only two attackers. One wore a balaclava and we could not see if they were armed or not.”

Slippers said police were at the scene, but the officers did not ask for assistance because the trackers from Polokwane would only be available for investigation at the farm the next day.

“I did my own investigation and followed and photographed the traces myself. On Monday [September 21, 2015] I went to the Alldays police station and wanted to talk to the commissioner about the poor service. He was apparently not there and would contact me. I have not yet received a call from him.”

Provincial police spokesperson, Ronel Otto, confirmed the incident and said police were investigating a case of damage to property.
