On Sunday, 4 April 2021 at 14:30, Durban Central police officers followed up on information received regarding two men who attempted to steal a vehicle along the beach. The description of the suspect’s vehicle was circulated and they started to search for the suspects.
Whilst were travelling along Snell Parade, the team observed a man who was busy tampering with another vehicle. When the suspect potted police, he got into his own vehicle and fled the scene. Police pursued the suspect’s vehicle, which was intercepted at Pavilion Terrace. Two suspects aged 28 and 38 were placed under arrest for attempted theft of a vehicle.
A search was conducted inside the vehicle and the police found a car breaking implement. The suspects will appear before the Durban Magistrate’s Court soon.
