The Provincial Commissioner took note of a video showing a man detained inside a dog cage placed on an open police patrol van. According to our information the incident dates back to 2019. It shows a man hunched over – with his hands in cuffs – inside a dog cage that is on top of an official police bakkie.
The Provincial Commissioner , Lt Gen Baile Motswenyane regards this matter as very serious hence she instructed the District Commissioner to, with immediate effect, start with departmental investigation to probe this matter.
For now we regard the matter as pending, and will allow the legal route to unfold.
