A 48-year-old man is appearing before the Durban Magistrate’s Court for possession of drugs. His arrest follows an operation that was conducted by police officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit on the afternoon of 27 January 2021, at 17:00.
The team proceeded to a flat situated in Smith Street and conducted a search. Upon searching the flat, the suspect was found in possession of 1 644 pieces of rock cocaine, 10 moons of rock cocaine, 1 350 capsules of heroin, mandrax tablet and 5 plastic packets of cocaine powder weighing 389 grams.
Cash of R18 110-00 suspected to be the proceeds of drugs was also seized by police. The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is R360 570-00. A case of possession of drugs was opened at Point SAPS for investigation.
“This arrest is testimony that drugs operations are in full swing. I am pleased with the recent arrests made to curb the dealing and abuse of drugs as well as other cases in the province,” said the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula.
