A farm attack took place on 11 December 2020, at 12:15, in Lichtenburg, in the North West Province of South Africa. Four attackers forced two white hitchhikers at gunpoint into their vehicle and then proceeded to Bloedzuierspan farm where they used the two kidnapped whites to lure Antoon van Rensburg (78) from his home. The attackers then stormed the home.
The attackers demanded money and firearms. Ria (74) raised the alarm on the farm radio causing the attackers to flee with a shotgun, cell phone, purse and the farm owners bakkie. The two kidnapped men were left at the scene with the vehicle used to arrive at the farm.
During a high speed chase in pursuit of the attackers a shootout took place and the robbed vehicle was forced off the road. Three of the attackers died in the accident whilst the fourth is in a critical condition.
The traumatised elderly couple were assisted and counselling was also arranged for them. The police were on the scene and are investigating further.
