A Stellenberg man and his wife were held at gunpoint last Wednesday while armed robbers ransacked their house.
The incident happened around 21:00 when two armed men entered the victim’s home through the garage door just as it was closing.
The man had just parked his car after returning from an errand. It is unclear where his wife was at that point, but Lieutenant Marchell Rhode, Durbanville police spokesperson, confirmed the incident.
He also confirmed that the armed men forced the resident inside his house where he and his wife were made to lie down on the floor.
Rhode said the suspects stole a number of electronic appliances and equipment fleeing the scene in a getaway car in which two more suspects are believed to have been awaiting their accomplices.
“We cannot say what type of vehicle it was, but the Durbanville police gave chase,” he said.
“We cannot confirm the value of the items that were stolen,” he said.
