‘Cop’ arrested after attempted robbery

He pretended to be a cop as a strategy to try rob someone, but unlucky for him his victim didn’t buy it.

According to Kempton Park SAPS, a 25-year-old suspect and his accomplice approached the manager of an Isando Road bottle store at about 10.30am on October 5. The manager was on his way to deposit money at the bank.

Spokesman Capt Jethro Mtshali said: “The victim was approached by two men, one of them armed, who said they were police officers.”

The manager did not believe the two men because they were not wearing police uniforms and a struggle ensued between the men.

“During the struggle, a patrol vehicle passed by and the police officers managed to arrest the suspect with a 9mm gun.”

His accomplice escaped and police are still searching for him.
