This week in Kempton Park, members of a well renowned non-government organization based in Midrand-Kyalami fully dressed in protective gear, reported at the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department Headquarters, situated at the corner of Margaret and Long.
Without any waste of time, the four-story building sanitization began.
The Scientology Volunteer Ministers, which has been effective for over 30 years, volunteered their services to sanitize all EMPD buildings and official motor vehicles following the lockdown, since the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic was introduced.
As the Chief of Police I. J. Mapiyeye and his management team went through the organization’s profile before they were endorsed, they came out highly recommended by national, provincial and neighboring Law Enforcement Agencies because of their exceptional charity work they have been engaged in previously.
There are nearly 300 volunteers that have donated more than 300,000 hours of volunteer work to sanitize spaces of government buildings, emergency services, clinics and shelters for the most vulnerable including the elderly, disabled and our youth. Combined, this accumulates to having sanitized 12,773 buildings and over 26,246,902 million square meters since the lockdown began. They also sanitized over 379,161 vehicles including emergency vans, police vehicles, fire trucks, and taxi all at their own cost.
“We take great pride in our country and in supporting the President in this time of disaster. It brings us great joy to assist and provide safety and hygiene education to our fellow South Africans. We stand together in solidarity in fighting this pandemic,” said Public affairs director of the Volunteer Minister, Mr. Sandile Hlayisi.
The NGO has vouched that they are not expecting any remuneration following the decontamination process. They promised to continue sanitizing EMPD buildings and vehicles and to do everything they can to help mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.
