A farm attack took place on 25 February 2020, on the farm Hillbrow, near Vierfontein in the Free State province of South Africa. Japie van den Berg (50), a farmer who stays alone, was overpowered at his farm gate by five male attackers and then forced into his home on the farm. The farmer was assaulted, tied up and abducted in his own bakkie.

The attackers then left the bakkie and Japie in Bothaville and fled in a getaway vehicle. Japie only managed to untie himself at 01:00 on Wednesday morning 26 January 2020, and had to walk for 3 km to get help.

The attackers took various items, including firearms from the safe. Farmers in the area responded but there have been no arrests.
