Classes and administration operations came to a complete halt at Wits after students blocked the entrances and littered the campus with litter.
Vice Rector Andrew Crouch reported that if student demands were met, it would lead to a major financial crisis. He says the university’s debt burden will increase dramatically and is already higher than what is affordable.
The students are demanding financial concessions and follow the similar pattern as in Durban, which indicates an organized protest action.
