Chopper van der Bijl from Featherbrooke Estate has undergone surgery after he was shot during a robbery at his home recently. According to a statement released on behalf of the Featherbrooke Home Owners Association (FHA) three armed assailants entered his residence after gaining access to the Estate by digging underneath the perimeter fence.
Entering the house, one of the armed men fired at the homeowner, wounding him in his abdomen.
It is understood that family members who were in the house at the time of the attack were hit on their heads with firearms and threatened with pangas.
Police was notified about the incident after the suspects had fled the scene and ambulances were dispatched.
The FHA Board and Estate Management is said to have met to discuss the implementation of additional security measures.
