A joint intelligence driven operation by South African Police Service and Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department led to the recovery of high calibre weapons that includes AK47 and R4.
Police received information about an Audi A3 that looked suspicious parked in a block of flats in Fordsburg, Johannesburg. On arrival, police noticed a balaclava inside the Audi A3 vehicle. Upon searching the car further, police recovered high calibre weapons.
Preliminary investigation also revealed that the vehicle was hijacked in Brooklyn, Pretoria last month.
A search for the suspects is continuing.
