The Police in Jane Furse outside Lebowakgomo have launched a manhunt for a group of armed suspects on attempted business robbery and attempted murder incidents.
It is alleged that on 5 February 2018, at about 02:00, a group of armed suspects attacked a local liquor outlet, tied the security guards at gunpoint and tried to gain entry into the building.
During that process, the suspects started to shoot from outside the yard and the owner retaliated by firing back.
The Police were subsequently called, reacted swiftly and on arrival a cross fire ensued between these criminals and the Police when one was of the suspects was fatally shot and others fled the scene before they could rob anything.
One firearm was recovered at the scene which is believed to be one of the weapons used by the suspects during this incident. One of the witnesses was shot and injured. The deceased is still unknown at this stage. No Police member was injured.
The suspects in this matter are still unknown and there is no arrest. Police investigations continue.
