Cross border crime, SANDF assist in stolen vehicle recovery

The Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Mpumalanga commends the integrated approach between the members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the South African National Defense Force (SANDF) which led to the recovery of four stolen vehicles worth millions of rands.

The security formations intercepted the vehicles, two Toyota Hilux bakkies, a Ford Ranger and Nissan Truck, on the morning of 18 January 2018, at approximately 01:30, while driving in a convoy at the mountains near the borderline of the Lebombo Port of Entry, Komatipoort.

All the drivers of the vehicles managed to evade arrest leaving the keys in the ignitions.

A short probe revealed that the two Toyota Hilux as well as the Ford Ranger were stolen in North West and the Nissan Truck in Gauteng.

The police appreciate the assistance of the community in fighting the scourge of cross border crime. The investigation regarding these vehicles is underway.
