Joint operation yields success, Beitbridge, Musina

The police have made significant impact following a major joint operation which started in the early hours of Friday morning, 22 December 2017, covering areas such as Beitbridge port of entry, the N1 north of Musina, the Musina CBD and malls.

The operation was mainly focused on crime prevention and road safety and maintaining high police visibility.

This joint operation saw divergent operatives from various environments such as the SAPS, the SANDF, SARS, Home Affairs (Customs) and the RTMC converging on Musina and Beitbridge, with a common purpose of ensuring the safety of motorists and the community of Musina during this festive period.

The operation was led by the Deputy Provincial Provincial Commissioner responsible for policing, Major General Jan Scheepers.

Addressing members of the media, General Scheepers stressed the importance of community policing. “We want to take this opportunity to thank members of the community who continue to be on our side, assisting the police in their endeavor to make them feel safe”, said General Scheepers.

The MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Mme Makoma Makhurupetji also joined the operation and encouraged members to do their utmost in ensuring the safety of communities.

Similar festive season operations are being conducted around the province and will continue until the end of January 2018.
