In Hlanganani outside Giyani, a 31 year old man Isando Rivimbi was sentenced by the Thohoyandou High Court.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and three years imprisonment for defeating the ends of justice.
The accused and his co accused kidnapped an elderly woman (82) after they accused her of practicing witchcraft.
They cut the deceased’s throat with a sharp object killing her instantly next to the local Rotterdam graveyard.
Rivimbi’s co accused Jack Magudu aged 37 was since allegedly killed and burnt to death by the angry community members following this incident.
