Man with knife attacks 7 people on Swiss train

At least seven passengers were injured after a man armed with a knife attacked passengers on a train in Swiss canton of St. Gallen on Saturday evening, local police said in a statement.

A 27-years old perpetrator used a knife and set a flammable liquid on fire, St. Gallen police said.

Among the injured are 17-year-old young man, a 50-year-old man, three women aged 17, 34 and 43, and a 6-year-old. The perpetrator is a Swiss national, according to the police.

Police is heavily present at the scene of the incident, including firefighters, three rescue helicopters, rescue teams and three ambulances. The station is now closed, with damage to the train amounting to more than 100,000 francs ($102,000). The St. Gallen Public Prosecutor opened an investigation.

The police did not specify the fate of the attacker.
