US police detained 48 more protesters in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Sunday amid continuing unrest that followed the shooting of a black man by lawmen, local media reported.
African-American man Alton Sterling was fatally shot by two policemen as he was lying on the ground. Authorities said police were responding to reports of a man threatening people with a gun.
The killing sparked violence protests against police brutality in Baton Rouge. A hundred arrests were made on Saturday.
Casey Rayborn Hicks, a spokeswoman for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, told NBC News 48 protesters had been taken into police custody by midnight. Among them was a leader of the Black Lives Matter civil movement.
