Robber shot after charging at home owner

A burglar was wounded after being shot by the owner of the home he and his partner broke into on March 6, 2015.

Kempton Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Jethro Mtshali, confirmed two suspects were arrested at about 23:20 following an attempted burglary on Peter Street.

“The home owner returned home while the suspects were still inside the house. He found his door had been broken open.

“On entering his house, he saw a suspect charging at him. He drew his firearm and shot at the suspect, wounding him in the abdomen,” Mtshali said.

Meanwhile, his partner in crime made a run for it after hearing the gun shots. He was found by security officers hiding in another room of the house.

Both men, aged 23 and 27, were arrested and the injured suspect was taken to hospital under police guard.
