Farm attack, sword forced down elderly man’s throat

Two men were injured after they were attacked by armed robbers Thursday morning June 4, 2015 on a smallholding near Rustenburg.

Sgt. Kelebogile Moleko, police spokesperson, told Maroela Media five suspects obtained access to the house by breaking open the security doors.

According to a reliable source, the attackers pushed a samurai sword down Rodger van Parys’s (71) throat. One of Van Parys’s tenants, Mario van Wyk, gave resistance against the attackers and was shot in the thigh. Van Parys and Van Wyk were admitted to hospital.

The attackers stole as much as possible of the domestic content and loaded it on Van Parys’s Mitsubishi Colt bakkie and fled. Moleko confirmed that the bakkie is still being sought.

No suspects have been arrested. A case of burglary and attempted murder is under investigation, said Moleko.
