Man shot dead, wife severely assaulted in farm attack

Police are looking for six suspects in connection with a farm murder in the Spruitfontein area near Rustenburg in North West province.

Hester Brits (52), her husband and brother in law were attacked on Thursday night in a farm attack between Rustenburg and Mooinooi.

Albert Brits (63), Hester’s husband, was shot twice in the chest and died in their bed.

The attack took place between 22:00 and midnight on the farm of Kiepersol Nursery.

Six armed men broke down the home’s door.

According to Capt. Paul Ramaloko, spokesman for the police, the six men went to the couple’s bedroom. “Albert tried to grab his gun when he was shot in the chest. He died on the scene. “Hester was severely beaten by the suspects and they forced her to unlock the safe. The family were tied with shoelaces and assaulted.

Ramaloko said the woman was seriously injured and admitted to a hospital. The family member is also hospitalized but has been discharged.

The suspects stole two 9mm pistols and fled with the couple’s vehicle. The car was found abandoned on Friday morning in Mooinooi. Nobody has been arrested and police were investigating cases of murder, attempted murder and robbery.
