A man probably in his 40’s was found dead next to his car on Thursday on the M2 highway near Denver in the south of Johannesburg.
“It is still not clear what happened, but it seems that his car broke down and he stopped,” said Inspector Edna Mamonyane of the metro police. “He got out and people along the highway probably confronted him.”
Officers in a police patrol car had spotted the car and saw the hood is open. “The man’s body was found near his car. He was shot in the head.”
Werner Vermaak, spokesperson for ER24 paramedics confirmed the man was declared dead at the scene.
Police are investigating a case of murder.
