Sun-19-Jun-16 Denise Shepherd and her husband assaulted after 3 suspects gained access to their residence. Mr Shepherd was hacked with a cane knife (panga?) on his arms and head whilst Denise sustained bruising. Mr Shepherds pistol malfunctioned during the incident and the suspects were able to escape with it. Mr and Mrs Shepherd have been moved to hospital. FARM ATTACK : At FW 80 Misty Ridge Farm Upper Tongaat. Occurred at 02:45. two adult males aged around 25 kicked down entrance door gained entry. Adult couple in the said house. Wife aged 78 years Mrs Denise Shepherd was asleep the main room,heard noises at her locked bedroom door n gate. The door then flung open. Mrs Shepherd saw both adult males at her door. She then took her walking stick and began poking them on their stomach to which they pulled the stick. Mrs Shepherd then put the light off and ran into an inter-leading room and locked herself in. She began phoning for help. During this time her husband walked into them. They then began assaulting him with a cane knife from the outside office.
Mr Shepherd 79 years old was dragged to his bedroom and further assaulted. As he withdrew his firearm to shoot at them it did not fire. The suspects took away his firearm. At this stage only the firearm was taken. Son in law entered the house n found his dad in law lying on his bedroom floor. In the passage was the panic button wich was pulled away by suspects Mr Shepherd was taken to Alberlito Hospital via Reaction Unit Ambo.
