At 21h37 on Friday night Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a farm attack on a smallholding in Chartwell, Randburg.
Exact detail to the incident will remain a subject for police comment.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and found a man aged 55 to have sustained critical injuries.
Medics worked fervently to stabilise the wounded man at the scene before they airlifted him with the Netcare 911 medical helicopter to a specialised hospital for the care that he required.
