Farmers ensure swift apprehension of farm attack suspect
Twenty farmers apprehended a farm attacker in South Africa

On Sunday April 3, 2016 at 13:43 Frans van der Linde junior was reported shot in the arm and leg on his farm near Bessiesvlei between Lichtenberg and Sannieshof, North West.

Frans tried to drive to get help but passed out along the way and his vehicle came to a stop.

Approximately 60 local farmers responded to the incident and tracker dogs as well as a light aircraft were called in to follow up on the suspect who was known to them.

The follow up closed off the area leading to Bessiesvlei which was 3.15Km from the incident ensuring the suspect could not move between the local community.

The suspect mannaged to left the area and the search was suspended at around 17:40.

At 17:55 the suspect pointed his weapon at a local farmer who called in for help and 20 local farmers cornered him and surrounded him about 8 km from the scene.

The Police arrived at this point and the suspect was handed over to them unhurt and in possession of the weapon used to shoot Frans.

Frans was moved to the hospital in Lichtenberg and is in a stable condition.
