Farm attacker arrested, stolen guns recovered

One of the attackers of Dr. George Meyer from Melkrivier, and two accomplices were arrested in Pietersburg on Wednesday, April 22, 2015.

Dr. Meyer and his caretaker were attacked on April 16, 2015 on his farm in the Melkrivier area (near Vaalwater). Dr. Meyer was tortured with a fence dropper full of nails.

They were tied up and left for dead.

Due to good detective work by Col. Sakkie and his team, not only were the three suspects arrested, but Dr. Meyer’s stolen bakkie, his guns and other stolen goods were also found.

The firearms were attached to the chassis of the “transporter’s” bakkie on its way to a new destination. The two accomplices are charged with possession of stolen fire arms.

Die Spoorsnyers helped with the follow-up operation.

One suspect is still at large and also the Uzzi. The suspect at large is known to the Police. Both attackers are South African citizens and not Zimbabwean citizens as earlier suspected.
