Boer Afrikaner Volksraad on land expropriation – Video

Die Vryburger

The chairman of the Boer Afrikaner Volksraad (BAV), Mr. Andries Breytenbach, had the opportunity to take part in a SABC television broadcast on the issue of land ownership in the country.

Recently, the Volksraad issued a strongly worded statement in which they stated unequivocally “to take land, is an act of war”. Most wars in the world were over land.

Of course, the presenter appeared to favor the opposing arguments that were held and that the professed “land fever” had attracted much attention.

Nevertheless, the Volksraad’s position is clear and that the public recognized of the existence of the Boer-Afrikaner Volksraad. Mr. Breytenbach said it was a myth that land was stolen, and set up a challenge to establish a commission of inquiry into the historical processes of land ownership.

He also made a strong point that civil war was not the first choice of the Boer-Afrikaner, and finally, the presenter asked the Volksraad for more information about themselves with the indication of forwarding their demands to the SABC.

After the interview, Mr. Breytenbach said the purpose and focus of the brief interview was not the self-determination issue. “It was a single issue, namely the legality of the white man’s land ownership. The lie that SA was actually a black area and the white people took their land, has received wider recognition (among the whites) than we realize. Therefore the ANC’s radical land reform met with such a high degree of resignation?

If people do not even have the backbone to defend the land they rightfully have, they do not deserve the land.”

The BAV, which claims to have 40,000 members, said its members would take land expropriation without compensation as “a declaration of war” so says Andries Breytenbach, the group’s Chairman. This follows President Zuma first mentioning the expropriation of land in his opening of Parliament speech, but last week was the first time he called for a change in the law. The ANC is also under pressure from the radical Economic Freedom Fighters, led by Julius Malema who have been travelling the country urging black South Africans to take back land from white invaders and “Dutch thugs”. He told parliament that his party wanted to “unite black people in South Africa” to expropriate land without compensation, to talk to us we were joined by Andries Breytenbach
