Attackers fled after farmer’s wife shot at them

Alleged farm attackers quickly fled on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, when a farmer’s wife opened fire on them.

Sgt. Kealeboga Molale, police spokesperson, told Maroela Media the incident occurred on a farm near Migdol, North West, South Africa.

Jan Brand (73) was busy outside the farmhouse when he was attacked by four men. The men allegedly didn’t have guns, but assaulted and kicked Brand.

Before the suspects, however, could progress any further, Brand’s wife, Helena, ran out of the house and shot with a firearm at the robbers. The suspects fled without stealing anything.

“According to the police report, Brand was found with a bloodied face and taken to a local doctor for treatment. However, he only sustained minor injuries and was not admitted to hospital,” Molale said.

A case of attempted robbery is being investigated.
